  1. Hi!

I just have discovered your blog. Currently I am living in London, but there is a small chance that I move to Luxembourg in a couple of months. I just wanted to thank you for providing information about the city, as there aren´t too many blogs out there talking about this.

  2. Hi Sergio! Thanks for posting the first comment on my blog. London is a great city. If you've lived there for a while, I think you're ready for a change. It's going to be a big one, but you'll enjoy it nevertheless. Just be open...

  4. Hi Willy,
Great blog! Here are a few topics that I'd love to see you cover if you can:

    - What foreigners can do to find seasonal, part or full time work when in the country on a residency visa. (Best job search sites, networking groups, etc.)

    - How services work in Lux, such as getting electricity, water, trash service, internet, phone, etc.

    - What to expect when looking at housing/apartment rentals. For example: is it common for tenants to install their own refrigerator, oven, etc. or is that typically included with the rental? Is it better to rent through an individual or through a property management company? What standard deposits are required? What kind of contracts are signed (year lease, 6 months, etc.) and how frequently should one expect rent to increase?

    - If one only speaks fluent English, what language do you recommend learning first: French, German or Luxembourgish? Are there language exchange groups in Luxembourg where people can go to learn and practice their language skills?

    - How should a new resident go about choosing a mobile carrier?

    - What is the vehicle registration process like? Is it easier to not bring one's own car and to instead buy a car in Luxembourg?

    - How do foreigners on a residency permit only go about navigating health care? Are there web sites that compare coverage plans of health providers in Luxembourg?

    - Can you say a few words about shopping? When do stores typically open and close? Do they close in the afternoon for lunch? Does anything differ when considering grocery shopping (what are the hours? where are the farmers' markets in the city?), or pharmacies (hours?)? Any quirks or interesting things a new resident should be aware of?

    - Customs in Luxembourg - what social graces should a new resident know in order to make a good impression? What are the major do's and don'ts when meeting new people? Is it customary to invite new friends over for a dinner party or is it better to always meet at a restaurant? What customs surprised you when you first moved to Luxembourg? What do foreigners or new residents do that now makes you cringe?

    - What are your top 5 favorite things about Luxembourg?

  7. Thanks for your replies and sorry about the long radio silence. I will try to get back to all of you. Sorry about the problem with the email address, I'm currently working with Google to try to sort it out.

  8. Loving the blog! Moving potentially to Lux in the next couple of months. Have an offer on the table from my company... they want to use the current F/X of GBP to EUR and wondered how that would leave me. Would appreciate a private chat if possible.

  9. Hi, tell us about the weather in Lux, please. I heard it's rainy and I hate rainy days but... maybe it's not that bad
